A menopause doula is a trained professional who provides support, evidence backed education, and guidance to women going through the perimenopause/menopause transition. They help women manage/navigate symptoms, make informed decisions about their health, and navigate the emotional and physical changes associated with menopause. 


During a session, you can expect to discuss your symptoms, concerns, and goals. The doula will provide information, support, and guidance tailored to your needs. Sessions may include education on the biology of perimenopause, menopause, HRT/MRT benefit/risk profiles along with all the options available, lifestyle recommendations, relationship reconnection and emotional support.  


  •  Emotional Support: Offering a listening ear and emotional support during the menopause transition. 
  • Education: Providing information about menopause symptoms, treatments including HRT/MHT, and lifestyle changes. 
  • Health Guidance: Assisting with developing personalised health plans, including diet, exercise, and stress management. 
  • Advocacy: Helping women communicate effectively with healthcare providers and advocating for their needs. 
  • Group Support: Facilitating support groups or workshops for women going through menopause. 


  •  Medical Diagnosis: Menopause doulas do not diagnose medical conditions or prescribe medications. 
  • Medical Treatment: They do not provide medical treatments or perform medical procedures. 
  • Replace Healthcare Providers: Menopause doulas do not replace the role of doctors, nurses, or other healthcare professionals. They work alongside healthcare providers to offer additional support. 


Menopause doulas can provide guidance on natural remedies, lifestyle changes, and coping strategies to manage symptoms such as hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. They can also help women explore medical treatment options MHT/HRT and support them in making informed decisions.  


Coverage for menopause doulas varies depending on your insurance plan and location. It's best to check with your insurance provider to see if they cover doula services.  


Absolutely! A doula can provide complementary support, helping you optimise lifestyle factors like nutrition, stress management, and sleep to enhance the benefits of MHT/HRT. 


Yes - A menopause doula can work alongside your existing healthcare team, offering emotional support, education, and guidance while respecting and complementing your medical care.

For those located in Adelaide, we provide in-person sessions at our CBD office.  Additionally, group sessions can be held at your location if you’re within 20km of the Adelaide CBD.
