About Paula

For almost a decade, I lived with symptoms that nobody could name. Back then, it wasn’t called perimenopause it was called ‘getting older’ or ‘stress’ I spent thousands of dollars on GP appointments, specialist referrals, labs, and tests that all came back ‘normal,’ and the unspoken message was clear: it was all in my head, and I should just get on with it.


So, I did what I’d always done. I marched on, poured myself into my corporate career, and wore my resilience like armour. As a dyslexic woman who had built a successful leadership career in transformation and digital process improvement, I knew how to work hard, think fast, and find ways around obstacles. But eventually, sheer grit wasn’t enough my brain stopped cooperating.


Emails that once took me five minutes to write suddenly took days or weeks to formulate. Everyday tasks like strategy decisions and planning became slow, exhausting, and overwhelming. I started forgetting names in Leadership Team meetings. Quarterly planning once one of my favourite activities felt almost impossible. It seemed like my executive functioning, the very thing that had powered my career, was shutting down.


On the outside, it felt like I was blowing up the brand I’d spent decades creating. Inside, my self‑confidence was in free fall. My body felt heavy and achy, my mind foggy, my emotions raw. And while work was hard, home was where I was truly drowning. I wanted to hide, or run away, from the life I had worked so hard to create including my 30‑plus‑year relationship with my husband and the family I adored.


I carried deep shame for the confusion and pain my family went through long before we had language or answers for what was happening to me. Now, after coaching so many women over the years, I know just how blessed I was to have such a supportive partner and family standing beside me. Without my husband’s steadiness and belief, I may not be here sharing this with you.


Looking back, what was really happening was a major neuroendocrine transition. My quality‑of‑life hormones, estradiol, progestogen, and testosterone including all the other critical hormones like cortisol, dopamine and insulin were changing in ways that affected my mood, sleep, cognition, identity, metabolism, and energy. On paper, my results were ‘fine.’ In real life, I was unravelling.


Fast forward to now. With lifestyle medicine and carefully personalised HRT/MHT tailored with the right balance of estradiol, progestogen, and testosterone for my personal wellbeing, I rebuilt my health and my life. My strength returned. My mood steadied. My energy rose. My clarity came back. And the spark that had quietly faded? Reignited. I have more energy now than I did before having kids, and a deep knowing that this is what midlife can feel like when women receive the right knowledge and support.


Today, I’m the founder of Your Menopause Doula, a menopause and midlife coaching practice based in Adelaide’s CBD and online for women across Australia and beyond. I help women cut through the noise, understand their hormones, and reclaim their confidence through science‑backed, compassionate care. My work sits at the intersection of health and work: alongside menopause coaching, I support women and men through career transition coaching, whether that means redesigning a career that fits their nervous system now, stepping into portfolio work, or rewriting what leadership looks like in this season of life.


I blend professional training with lived experience and collaborate with national and international leaders in menopause and women’s health. Beyond individual coaching, I bring my 25+ years of corporate leadership into workplaces, advising organisations on midlife health, and retention, and speaking about why supporting midlife human health and midlife career transitions is simply smart business. I also serve as a Board Member and Community Liaison for BleedBetter and co‑founded Her Health Hero, expanding the impact of this work into communities and the next generation.


My story is not unique and that’s exactly the problem. Menopause and the midlife transition are biologically universal for women with not only health impacts there are many economic one too, yet they remain invisible, misunderstood, and too often framed as a capability issue rather than a health transition. I’m here so you don’t have to spend years questioning your sanity, apologising for your symptoms, or shrinking your life and career to fit how you feel.
